Josef Eppeneder

Josef Eppeneder (born December 16, 1947 in Vilsbiburg - Falkenberg ) is a German politician ( CSU ).

Life

education and profession

Eppeneder attended the Vilsbiburg elementary school and then the agricultural vocational school. In 1973 he took over his parents' farm.

Political career

In 1977 Eppeneder joined the CSU. He was deputy district chairman of the CSU Landshut-Land and CSU local chairman in Vilsbiburg as well as parliamentary group spokesman for the CSU city council group in Vilsbiburg.

Public offices

From 1984 he was a district councilor and city councilor. From 1990 until the early submission of his mandate in 2002, he was a member of the Bavarian State Parliament . He moved twice over the list, in 1998 he won the direct mandate in the district of Landshut . From May 2002 to April 2014 he was district administrator of the Landshut district .

Others

In 2010, Prime Minister Horst Seehofer awarded Eppeneder in Munich with the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany.

Since May 2012, he has been confronted with an investigative commission of the district council because of substantial allegations of nepotism . Two of his adult children received high income from the district's budget for renting two properties in the Lower Bavarian towns of Vilsbiburg and Wörth an der Isar to assigned asylum seekers. It's a five-digit monthly amount. The government of Lower Bavaria checked the contracts. Local newspapers reported that Eppeneder conducted the purchase negotiations for his children himself. Eppeneder denies that he gave them an information advantage, rather he was able to solve an "emergency situation" in the district, namely the obligation to accommodate a contingent of 180 asylum seekers.
