Josef Feger

Josef Feger (born March 31, 1920 in Fridingen an der Donau ; † November 22, 2010 in Leutkirch ) was a CDU local politician from Baden-Württemberg and from 1954 to 1986 mayor or lord mayor of the city of Leutkirch in the Allgäu.

Life, occupation and political activity

After serving in the Second World War and being a prisoner of war , he was trained for the judiciary. From 1951 to 1953 he was a judicial inspector at the district notary's office in Tuttlingen and then at the notary's office in Leutkirch. In 1954 he was elected mayor of the city of Leutkirch; he took this office on December 18, 1954. With the elevation of Leutkirch to a major district town in 1974, he received the title of Lord Mayor. In December 1986 he was adopted into retirement.

Josef Feger was a member of the CDU. From 1966 to 1989 he belonged to the CDU parliamentary group of the district council of the old district of Wangen and, after the district reform of the district of Ravensburg .

Other memberships, honors and awards

Josef Feger was a member of the board of directors of the Ulm computing center, the association assembly of the Upper Swabian Electricity Works Association and the main committee of the working group Die alten Stadt .

He was a bearer of the Federal Cross of Merit 1st Class and was awarded the Merit Medal of the Baden-Württemberg City Council in 2004 . When he retired in 1986, he was made an honorary citizen of the city of Leutkirch.

Family and private

Josef Feger was single and a Roman Catholic . On November 26, 2010 he was buried in his hometown of Fridingen.
