Josef Hauber (* 1944 in Rainau-Buch ) is a German church musician ( organist ) and composer .

From 1964 to 1967 he studied at the church music school in Regensburg , among others with Oskar Sigmund and Karl Norbert Schmid . After graduating, he worked for three years as cathedral parish organist and voice trainer for the choir in Bamberg . From 1970 he studied at the Munich University of Music . a. with professors Franz Lehrndorfer , Edgar Krapp , Fritz Schieri and Peter Kiesewetter , which he completed in 1975 with the state examination in art ( A-exam church music ) and as a state-certified music teacher ( music education ). At the same time he was choir regent of the parish of St. Andreas in Munich.

In 1976 Josef Hauber accepted the call to become choir director at the St. Ulrich and Afra Basilica (Augsburg) ; In 1999 he was given a teaching position at the Augsburg-Nuremberg University of Music and the Diocese of Augsburg (C courses: choral vocal training and conducting).

In October 2001 he received the papal order pro ecclesia et pontifice , one of the highest honors for services to the Roman Catholic Church . In addition, he has been the winner of the City of Königsbrunn's Culture Prize since 2004. In his professional retirement, he headed the local choral society Liederkranz / Vox Corona from September 2006 to 2017 .
