Josef Jelínek (painter)
Josef Jelínek (born December 3, 1871 in Čimelice , Austria-Hungary ; died August 20, 1945 in Turnov ) was a Czech painter and graphic artist.
Life
Josef Jelínek studied from 1887 with Maxmilián Pirner at the Prague Art Academy . In 1894/95 he stayed with Jean-François Portaels and Joseph Stallaert at the Académie royale des Beaux-Arts de Bruxelles and with Léon Bonnat at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. In Prague he joined the Manes artists' association. His painting of Trosky Castle was exhibited in London in 1901. Jelínek received the title of professor.
Jelínek developed from a figure painter to a landscape painter and was a fan of open air painting (plein airism).
