Josef Lang (politician, 1902)

Josef Lang (born April 5, 1902 in Mainz , † September 10, 1973 in Frankfurt am Main ) was a German bookseller , socialist resistance fighter against National Socialism , emigrant and regional SPD board member.

Life

After attending primary school, Lang learned the trade of bookseller. After it was founded in 1931, he joined the Socialist Workers' Party in Germany (1931) and was involved against the emergence of National Socialism . In 1934 he fled to Czechoslovakia from the threat of persecution . He lived in France since 1938 and went to the USA after the invasion of the Wehrmacht in 1940 .

When the Nazi rule was eliminated, he returned to Germany in 1950 , where he joined the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD). Lang was elected to the board of directors of the Frankfurt / Main sub-district . Professionally, he orientated himself again as a bookseller and managed the bookstore of the Bund-Verlag , which publishes literature on union politics.

Josef Lang was married to his wife Erna Lang .
