Josef Niederberger

Josef Niederberger-Streule (* 1956 ) is a Swiss politician ( CVP ) in the canton of Nidwalden .

Life

After finishing school, Niederberger completed an apprenticeship as a carpenter, worked in various companies and completed further training as a timber construction technician and commercial training as an entrepreneur. In 1983 he founded the company Holzbau Niederberger in Büren, of which he is the managing director.

Niederberger is married, has four adult children and lives in Oberdorf .

politics

Niederberger was a member of the Oberdorf Finance Commission for 2 years and on the Oberdorf School Board for 12 years, which he chaired for 10 years. From 2002 to 2014 he was a member of the Nidwalden district council , of which he was president from 2012–2013.

On February 28, 2016 Niederberger achieved the best result in the replacement elections for the resigned government councilor Hans Wicki with 6,050 votes, but thus missed the absolute majority required . The three other candidates, Walter Odermatt ( SVP , 5,394 votes), Sepp Durrer ( FDP , 4,341 votes) and Conrad Wagner ( Green Nidwalden , 3,944 votes), waived a second ballot, which meant that Niederberger was quieter Election was chosen.
