Josef Niedermaier

Josef Niedermaier (born October 14, 1963 in Munich ) is a German local politician ( Free Voters ) and since May 1, 2008 District Administrator of the Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen district .

Life

From 1980 to 1983 Niedermaier was a member of the biathlon junior team of the German Ski Association . In 1983 he finished high school at the Gymnasium Bad Toelz and then made to 1984 military service in Hochgebirgsjägerzug of mountain infantry battalion 234 in Mittenwald . He then completed an apprenticeship as a baker in Munich, where he began training as a pastry chef in Café Luitpold in 1986 . In 1989 he passed the master baker 's examination at the Bavarian Bakery Academy in Lochham . Until 2000, Niedermaier was managing director of the family-owned bakery Gotz GmbH.

In 1988 Niedermaier married Andrea Schneider; the couple has two daughters.

Josef Niedermaier is a musician (clarinet) in his spare time and has been an active member of the Mühlfeldkirchenorchester in Bad Tölz and the Tölzer Stadtkapelle since 1979, of which he was orchestra director from 1989 to 2000.

Political career

In 1995 Niedermaier became a member of the Bad Tölz Free Voter Association and in 1996 was elected to the City Council of Bad Tölz . On May 20, 2000, after the early death of the 1st mayor Albert Schäffenacker, the election as Mayor of Tölz took place, in March 2006 Niedermaier was re-elected with 92%. He was then elected by the members of the Bavarian Association of Cities to the Finance Committee and the Presidium. In the election for district administrator, he prevailed in the runoff election in March 2008 in a narrow decision against Martin Bachhuber ( CSU ).

Since his election as district administrator, Niedermaier has been deputy chairman of the Oberland rescue association, which includes the districts of Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen, Garmisch-Partenkirchen and Weilheim-Schongau. He is also a member of the Committee for Finance and Savings Banks of the Bavarian District Assembly.

In the Bavarian municipal elections in March 2014 , he was confirmed in office for another six years with 54.66%. When the municipal umbrella organizations were re-constituted after the local elections, he was elected to the presidium of the Bavarian district assembly and head of the innovation ring in the Bavarian district assembly, to which 21 districts belong. He also represents the district assembly on the administrative board of the Savings Banks Association of Bavaria .

The 94 municipalities and four districts in the 17 Oberland planning region elected him as chairman of the planning association.
