Josef Posch (politician, 1934)

Josef Posch (born January 4, 1934 in Neudörfl , Burgenland ) is a former Austrian politician ( SPÖ ). Posch was a member of the Burgenland Landtag from 1968 to 1978 and from 1981 to 1991 and a member of the Federal Council from 1978 to 1981 . Between 1987 and 1991 he held the office of 2nd President of the State Parliament .

Life

Posch was born as the son of the cellar master and innkeeper Josef Posch from Neudörfl. After primary school in Neunkirchen, he attended the middle school classes in Traiskirchen and Wiener Neustadt for five years and then worked as a commercial clerk, completing the vocational school from 1949 to 1951. Until 1965 he worked as a salesman at the consumer cooperative or a private company, after which he was managing director in a furniture factory from 1965 to 1967. In 1967 he moved to the Free Trade Association of Austria as state secretary. From 1972 to 1976 Posch was the commercial director of the Burgenland Freedom , between 1972 and 1993 he was President of the ARBÖ -Burgenland and from 1976 to 1994 he was the regional director of Wiener Städtische Swap Insurance in Burgenland. Posch was also the managing director of the Burgenland University of Applied Sciences .

His son Dieter Posch has been the mayor of Neudörfl since 1997/98.

politics

Posch was politically active as a member of the SPÖ from 1953, and from 1962 to 1985 he was mayor of Neudörfl. Within the party, he held the function of a member of the state party executive of the SPÖ Burgenland from 1969 to 1983 and was also deputy chairman of the district committee of the SPÖ district of Mattersburg and from 1985 to 1990 district party chairman of the SPÖ in the Mattersburg district. Posch represented the SPÖ between May 14, 1968 and June 30, 1978 in the state parliament and was then a member of the Federal Council from July 6, 1978 to July 8, 1981. He then moved back to the state parliament on July 6, 1987, to which he was a member until July 18, 1991. Posch was also club chairman of the SPÖ state parliamentary group from 1985 to 1987 and from October 30, 1987 until he left the state parliament, he was the second president of the state parliament.
