Josef "Sepp" Schneider (born December 26, 1957 in Palmberg ) is a former German cross-country skier and today's biathlon trainer and entrepreneur. He was a 19-time German cross-country skiing champion, a two-time Olympic participant and took part in four Nordic World Ski Championships .

Schneider was interested in winter sports from an early age, and as a native of Palmberger, he joined TSV Grafenau in his youth. From there he was appointed to the junior squad of the German ski association in cross-country skiing. For Grafenau he took part in German championships. Due to growing success, Sepp Schneider was promoted to the B-team. Here he again took part in the German championship and in races in the Continental Cup . His successes brought him a call to the A-squad and appearances in the World Cup . In total, he won a German championship 19 times in his career and was a four-time world championship ( Lahti , Oslo , Seefeld in Tirol , Oberstdorf ) and two-time Olympic participant ( Lake Placid and Sarajevo ).

After retiring from active high-performance skiing, Josef Schneider founded his own ski and snowboard school on the Geißkopf in 1992 and the biathlon agency "Schneider Events" in 2006. He is sports manager in the Bayerwald ski association and head of the Hohenzollern ski stadium in Langdorf am Großer Arbersee .

Furthermore, Sepp Schneider is the permanent organizer and competition manager of major events, company biathlons, team competitions and ski championships on the Arber and in Ruhpolding , including the 2006 European biathlon championships .
