The Hohenzollern Skistadion is a biathlon stadium in the municipality of Bayerisch Eisenstein and is located directly on the Great Arbersee near the border with the Czech Republic . The facility is used for training and competitions in biathlon and special cross-country skiing.

history

precursor

The first biathlon stadium was opened in 1975 in Innenried near Zwiesel . This facility, of which nothing is reminiscent, was not very snow reliable. From 1984 the biathlon facility on the Großer Arbersee was used.

construction

Between the years 2000 and 2005 the ski stadium and the network of trails were modernized. The technical conditions were worked on, the floodlights were improved and the summer roads were re-asphalted. 50% of the renovation was financed by the Free State of Bavaria , the other 50% by the Ski-LLZ Arber association with 22 cities and municipalities, as well as the districts of Regen and Cham , the district government of Lower Bavaria and sponsors. In 2014, the electronic development was carried out, the illumination level and race evaluation improved and the athletes' building erected.

The arena

The arena has 30 shooting ranges and eight different track sections with different gradients and lengths. A 2.7 km roller track is available in summer.

Events

In 2006 the European biathlon championships took place here. In 2022 this event is to take place again in the Hohenzollern ski stadium
