Josef Schregel
Hubert Heinrich Emanuel Josef Schregel (born March 13, 1865 in Jülich , † December 24, 1946 in Neumagen-Dhron on the Moselle ) was a German local poet .
Life
Schregel came to Düren at the age of eight and later worked there as a wine merchant .
Schregel expressed his ties to his homeland in many poems which, as a Rhinelander, he often wrote in the Rhenish dialect, the Dürener Platt .
On June 30, 1930 he was granted honorary citizenship for his services to the Düren dialect .
The former Eisenbahnstrasse (since September 1, 1841) in Düren has been named after him since January 30, 1947. From April 6, 1933 to 1945 it was called Adolf-Hitler-Strasse.
