Josef Struber

Josef Struber (born February 13, 1773 in Stegenwald, Werfen municipality , Salzburg ; † July 19, 1845 there ) was an Austrian innkeeper and rifle captain.

On September 25, 1809, together with P. Sieberer from Pfarrwerfen, he defended the Lueg Pass against the French and Bavaria. The "Joseph Struber Association" erected a monument in honor of Josef Struber in 1898 on the top of the pass based on a design by the sculptor Hubert Spannring .
