Josef Votzi

Josef Votzi (born January 26, 1955 in Korneuburg ) is an Austrian journalist .

Life

Votzi studied history, philosophy and journalism in Vienna and was press officer for the Austrian Students' Union (ÖH) from 1976 to 1977 . In 1978 he was editor-in-chief of ÖSU-report , Austria's largest student magazine.

From 1978 to 1998 he was an editor at the news magazine profil . From 1988 to 1991 he was head of the internal policy department and from 1992 to 1998 editor-in-chief, from 1996 also publisher.

In 1995 he published the report on the then Cardinal Hans Hermann Groër about the abuse of a student in the Hollabrunn boys' college , which eventually led to his resignation.

After a six-month sabbatical in the USA (including at the University of California, Los Angeles ) he was editor-in-chief of the news magazine News from 1999 to 2008 .

Until 2018 he was head of domestic affairs for the daily newspaper Kurier .
