Josef Walch

Josef Walch (* 1946 in Rheinberg ) is professor of art didactics at the Burg Giebichenstein University of Art in Halle in Halle (Saale) and a textbook author.

He grew up in Reilingen near Heidelberg . After studying painting and art history at the University of Karlsruhe and the Academy of Fine Arts, he first worked as a teacher. Collaboration in the development of the art education course (high school teacher training) in Saxony-Anhalt was followed by an appointment as professor at Burg Giebichenstein in 1994, interrupted in 1998 by a visiting professorship at Ohio State University in Columbus .

Josef Walch is a member of the German Werkbund , the cultural and political society and the Association of German Art Educators .

His collection of hare figures he founded in 2010 the city Eppelheim whose inhabitants the Ortsnecknamen carry "stable hands". The collection is exhibited in the local water tower and is the nucleus of the German Hare Museum, which opened in November 2009 . Prof. Walch curated the exhibition "Voltaire - Candide" in spring 2019 in the Schwetzingen palace garden.
