Josef Werner Lusser

Josef Werner Lusser (born August 12, 1861 in Altdorf ; † March 29, 1941 there , entitled to live in Altdorf) was a Swiss politician ( FDP ).

biography

Lusser attended the canton school in Altdorf and completed language studies in Belfort and Roveredo .

In 1882 he was elected Landschreiber and was the office director from 1908 to 1916. In 1916 he was elected to the government council of the canton of Uri , where he first chaired the military and medical department and, from 1920, the police and medical department . Between 1920 and 1936 he served alternately as a state governor and as a bailiff . In 1925 he was elected to the National Council by the people of Uri and politicized there until 1931.

Although his family was conservative and he was brought up that way, he exposed himself as a co-founder of the progressive democratic party in Uri. In 1928 he fought unsuccessfully against the abolition of the Uri rural community . At the national level, he campaigned in the National Council for a better financial situation in the Alpine cantons.

Josef Werner Lusser also held various board memberships . For example at the Swiss Federal Railways , the Schöllenenbahn and as Chairman of the Board of Directors at the Uri Cantonal Hospital. He was also a co-founder of field music and the Altdorf gymnastics club.
