Josefine Dora ; Born Isidora Emilie Skuhra Friese (born November 13, 1867 in Vienna , † May 28, 1944 in Kühlungsborn ) was an Austrian actress and operetta singer (soprano).

Life

The daughter of the actor Carl Adolf Friese appeared on stage for the first time on January 6, 1870 in the play The Pediatrician in the Theater an der Wien . At the side of her father she was a child actress who also appeared in Germany, the Netherlands and Switzerland.

In 1881 she got a permanent engagement at the Theater an der Wien. Josefine Dora made a name for herself as a soubrette at this time and made guest appearances in the USA until 1885. Then she played at the Berlin Central Theater , where she was mainly seen in operettas such as Der Zigeunerbaron , Der Bettelstudent , Gasparone , Die Fledermaus and The Bird Trader . Later guest roles at the theater took her to Bremen, London and Prague.

The actress has appeared in a variety of films since 1913, mostly in smaller roles. Until shortly before her death, she embodied somewhat quirky older women.

Josefine Dora married the actor Richard Schultz on December 29, 1888 and the actor Georg Worlitzsch , who suddenly suffered a stroke on January 22, 1902 during the performance of the comedy Your Family at the Deutsches Theater in London, where he was last engaged he laid. Her third marriage was to the actor Arthur Weinschenk .
