Josep Jufré Pou (born August 5, 1975 in Santa Eulàlia de Riuprimer , Catalonia ) is a former Spanish cyclist .
Career
Josep Jufré started his career in 1996 at Porcelana Santa Clara-Samara . Three years later he became a professional with the Portuguese cycling team Boavista . Here he won a stage of the GP do Minho in 2001 . The following year he won the Clasica a los Puertos de Guadarrama . He then moved to the Spanish team Relax-Fuenlabrada . From 2006 Jufré drove for the Belgian ProTeam Davitamon Lotto and was an assistant to captain Cadel Evans , with whom he won the 2007 team time trial of the Settimana Internazionale .
He contested and finished all three "Grand Tours" with the Tour de France , the Giro d'Italia and the Vuelta a España . He finished the Tour of Italy four times and the Tour of Spain five times. His best placement was 14th place at the Vuelta a España 2005
On January 16, 2012, at the age of 36, Jufré declared his career as a professional cyclist ended because his contract with Astana was not renewed and he had not found a new team for the 2012 season. One reason for this was the closure of numerous teams such as HTC-Highroad at the end of 2011, which meant that many drivers were on the market. The Spaniard said goodbye to the media and fans in a letter.
