Joseph-Alphonse Adhémar

Joseph-Alphonse Adhémar (* 1797 ; † 1862 ) was a French mathematician .
Adhémar was the first to propose astronomical causes, namely the eccentricity of the earth's orbit around the sun, for the formation of the ice ages ( Révolutions de la mer. Déluges périodiques ). Under the title Cours de mathématiques à l'usage de l'ingénieur civil , he wrote a number of special manuals on various parts of pure and applied mathematics . He also wrote some treatises on descriptive geometry .
