Joseph Marie Trịnh Như Khuê
Cardinal Joseph Marie Trịnh Như Khuê (born December 11, 1898 in Trang-Duê , Vietnam , † November 27, 1978 in Hanoi ) was a Vietnamese clergyman and archbishop of Hanoi .
Life
Joseph Marie Trịnh Như Khuê received the sacrament of ordination on April 1, 1933 after studying Catholic theology and then worked as a parish chaplain .
In 1950 Pope Pius XII appointed him . the titular bishop of Synaus and vicar apostolic of Hanoi. He was ordained bishop on August 15, 1950 by Thaddée Anselme Lê Hữu Từ OCist , Titular Bishop of Daphnusia and Apostolic Vicar of Phát Diám . Co-consecrators were Francisco Gomez de Santiago OP , Vicar Apostolic of Hải Phòng and Pierre Marie Pham-Ngoc-Chi , Titular Bishop of Sozopolis in Haemimonto and Vicar Apostolic of Bùi Chu .
Pope John XXIII appointed him in 1960 as the first archbishop of the newly founded Archdiocese of Hanoi. Joseph Marie Trịnh Như Khuê was born in 1976 by Pope Paul VI. accepted into the college of cardinals as cardinal priest with the titular church of San Francesco di Paola dei Calabresi . He took part in both conclaves of 1978 as the oldest electoral cardinal and died in Hanoi on November 27 of the same year. He was buried in the local cathedral .
