Joseph Alessandro

Joseph Alessandro OFMCap (born November 30, 1944 in Pawla , Malta ) is a Maltese religious and Roman Catholic bishop of Garissa .

Life

Joseph Alessandro joined the religious order of the Capuchins , made his first profession on September 30, 1962 and his perpetual profession on September 30, 1966 . He was ordained deacon on December 20, 1969 and ordained a priest on April 5, 1970 .

Pope Benedict XVI appointed him on June 29, 2012 Coadjutor Bishop of Garissa. He was ordained episcopal on September 29th of the same year by the Archbishop of Nairobi , Cardinal John Njue . Co- consecrators were the Archbishop of Malta , Paul Cremona OP , and the Bishop of Garissa, Paul Darmanin OFMCap.

With the acceptance of the age-related resignation of Paul Darmanin on December 8, 2015, he succeeded him as Bishop of Garissa.
