Joseph Combès

Joseph Combès (* 1920 in Hérault ; † June 20, 2002 ) was a French philosopher and historian of philosophy .

Combès, a student of Jean Trouillard , was a research assistant at the Center Jean Pépin UPR 76 of the CNRS in Villejuif and professor at the Facultés Catholiques in Lyon . Combès has negotiated various philosophical subjects such as freedom and value, as well as philosophers such as Descartes and Kant , and authored a number of studies on Neoplatonic authors. Together with Leendert Gerrit Westerink , he edited the commentary by the Neoplatonic philosopher Damascius on the Parmenides of Plato .
