Joseph Ebers

Joseph Ebers (* 1845 in Hildesheim ; † July 14, 1923 in Breslau ) was a German architect of historicism and from 1883 to 1921 diocesan master builder of the diocese of Breslau .

Life

Ebers studied at the Hanover Polytechnic from 1864 to 1869 , his most important teacher there was Conrad Wilhelm Hase . In 1878 he passed the master builder examination . From around 1880 to 1883 he worked as a government master builder in Salzwedel. From 1883 he was a diocesan master builder in Breslau for almost 40 years.

During his period of activity, numerous new churches were built as a result of industrialization and population growth. Ebers designed mainly neo-Gothic brick buildings in the style of the Hanover School .

A son of Joseph Ebers was the constitutional and international lawyer Godehard Josef Ebers (1880-1958), since 1919 professor at the University of Cologne and 1932/1933 its rector.
