Joseph Green (actor)
Joseph Green (actually Joseph Greenberg ; born April 23, 1900 in Łódź , † June 20, 1996 in Great Neck , Long Island , New York ) was a Polish actor , director and writer .
Life
Green was born in Łódź into a Jewish family. He studied at the theater school in Berlin and made his debut in the Vilna troupe . In 1924 he moved to the United States and lived in New York, where he performed in local Jewish theaters.
In 1927 he moved to Hollywood, took the name Joseph Green, and was an extra in the first sound films. But soon he returned to Poland and settled in Warsaw. In 1930 he took on the dubbing and distribution of American films of the 1920s. For this purpose he founded Green-Film, which dealt with the dissemination of Jewish and non-Jewish sound images.
Shortly before the outbreak of World War II, he moved back to the United States. There he dealt with the distribution of his films, was also a theater producer, episode actor and director. He died of emphysema in Great Neck, Long Island, New York.
