Joseph Heinrich Wolf

Joseph Heinrich Wolf (born October 4, 1803 in Michelfeld , (district of Auerbach in the Upper Palatinate ); † April 21, 1857 in Pfaffenhofen an der Ilm ) was a German lawyer and local researcher. He is the author of more than 20 works on the history of Bavaria and some cities in Upper Bavaria.

Life

After graduating from high school, Wolf began studying law . He then moved to Munich in November 1826 . There he initially worked as a private scholar and historian. He later worked at the district and city courts as an accessist , legal specialist and protocolist . At the beginning of 1855, Wolf came to Pfaffenhofen, where he established himself as a lawyer with his own civil practice.

In addition to his professional activity, he began to publish historical treatises in the early 1830s, in which he dealt in particular with Bavarian history , that of the House of Wittelsbach and the history of the city of Munich. Wolf was also a member of several learned societies. After moving to Pfaffenhofen, he wrote the first local history of the city, which appeared in the weekly newspaper for the districts of Pfaffenhofen and Schrobenhausen in 1856 and 1857 .

Wolf had been married to the registrar's daughter Aloisia Franziska Schmid since 1832, with whom he had eight children. The eldest daughter Franziska Aloisia later became a court singer in Weimar .
