Joseph Ignaz Zimmermann

Joseph Ignaz Zimmermann SJ (born October 15, 1737 in Schenkon , † January 9, 1797 in Merenschwand ) was a Swiss pedagogue , theologian and writer .

Life

In 1766, after being ordained a priest, Zimmermann took up the position of professor of rhetoric at the Solothurn high school . After a teaching position in Munich , he was appointed to the grammar school in Lucerne on October 26, 1774, just one month after the Jesuit order was abolished , where he taught as a professor of rhetoric. Lucerne city pastor Thaddäus Müller called him, along with Franz Regis Krauer, one of the two most important Lucerne school reformers at the end of the 18th century.
