Joseph Jungbluth

Joseph Jungbluth (born May 18, 1807 in Haus Laach ; † April 20, 1886 at Gut Mariawald near Jülich ) was a German politician .

Life

Born as the son of a court advisor to the Electorate of the Palatinate and the last Jülich city ​​school , Jungbluth studied law in Bonn and Heidelberg after attending high school in Cologne . During his studies he became a member of the Old Bonn Burschenschaft in 1825 and of the Old Heidelberg Burschenschaft in 1827 . He was captured in 1828 as one of the initiators of the Heidelberg student unrest, but was released again after a violent liberation operation. He was expelled from Heidelberg University and lost his employability in the civil service by order of the state . He left his studies unfinished and did his military service in Jülich. He joined his father-in-law's business in Jülich and later became a landowner in Jülich. There he became a member of the local council in 1837 and honorary second mayor . In 1847 he was a member of the United State Parliament , in 1848 of the Frankfurt pre-parliament . In 1848 he became acting mayor and was then the definitive mayor of Jülich from 1851 to 1871; he was re-elected mayor in 1871, but was not confirmed by the government. From 1849 to 1850 he was a member of the First Prussian Chamber of Deputies , then until 1852 and from 1856 to 1858 a member of the Second Chamber . With speculations in the course of clearing the Jülich Erbbusch and converting it into arable land, he became very wealthy.
