Joseph Lidl (born December 19, 1788 in Sauerlach ; † November 17, 1856 there ), also Joseph Liedl , was a Bavarian landowner , royal postmaster and politician .

Joseph Lidl was born on December 19, 1788, the son of Mathias Lidl, a post hostess in Sauerlach. Joseph Lidl was the owner of a stately farm in what is now the municipality of Sauerlach in Upper Bavaria . His property was valued at 120,000 guilders in 1845 . At the same time he was the owner of the post office there, which was a central point of contact for travelers on the Munich-Tegernsee route. After the death of Wilhelm von Gumppenberg, he moved up on September 20, 1847 as a member of the Chamber of Deputies in the Bavarian State Parliament . As such, he was a member of the 11th and 12th Landtag. He was certified as having the best political convictions.

He was also a member of the Ludwig Mission Association and the Agricultural Central Association in the Kingdom of Bavaria.

His grandson Otto Lidl (* December 18, 1866 - August 11, 1897) was mayor of the municipality of Sauerlach for a short time until his death . His great-grandson Maximilian Otto Lidl (April 4, 1896, † December 2, 1958) studied state and forestry at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich and the TH Munich-Weihenstephan , and was mayor Sauerlachs after the Second World War and until his Death of managing director of the state association of the Bavarian non-state forest , today's Bavarian forest owners association .
