Joseph Marmaduke Pratt

Joseph Marmaduke Pratt (born September 4, 1891 in Paterson , New Jersey , †  July 19, 1946 in Washington, DC ) was an American politician . In 1944 and 1945 he represented the state of Pennsylvania in the US House of Representatives .

Career

In 1892 Joseph Pratt came to Philadelphia with his parents , where he attended public schools and some commercial schools. He then studied until 1919 at Temple University there . He later worked in industry, manufacturing among other things maritime products. At the same time he embarked on a political career as a member of the Republican Party . Between 1937 and 1946 he was a board member of his party in Philadelphia.

After the resignation of MP James P. McGranery , Pratt was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington at the by-election due for the second seat of Pennsylvania, where he took up his new mandate on January 18, 1944. Since he was not confirmed in the regular elections in the same year, he could only end the current legislative period in Congress until January 3, 1945 . This time was marked by the events of the Second World War .

After his tenure in the US House of Representatives, Joseph Pratt resumed his previous activities. He died on July 19, 1946 while on business in Washington.
