From 1884 to 1889 he worked at the University Library in Vienna and in 1889 came to the Albertina Graphic Collection , of which he was director from 1905 to 1923. Meder continued to transform the Albertina from the old princely private collection into a modern research facility that had already been started by his predecessors. Meder compiled a scientific and critical catalog of Albrecht Dürer's hand drawings, most cited in art research .
