Joseph Nigg
Joseph Nigg (born October 13, 1782 in Vienna ; † September 19, 1863 there ) was an Austrian porcelain and flower painter .
Life
Joseph Nigg studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna with Johann Baptist Drechsler . In 1804 and 1806 he received first prizes at the Academy in Vienna. Between 1800 and 1848, when he retired, Nigg worked at the Vienna Porcelain Manufactory , and in later years also as a teacher. From 1824 he successfully took part in the annual exhibitions of the Vienna Academy.

Joseph Nigg was one of the most outstanding Austrian flower painters. In this genre he not only created highly valued porcelain paintings, but also high quality oil paintings , watercolors and pastel drawings .
