Joseph Ponniah
Joseph Ponniah (born October 12, 1952 in Thannamunai ) is a Sri Lankan priest and Bishop of Batticaloa .
Life
Joseph Ponniah was ordained a priest on April 30, 1980 . Pope Benedict XVI appointed him on February 19, 2008 titular bishop of Mons in Mauretania and auxiliary bishop in Trincomalee -Batticaloa.
The Bishop of Trincomalee-Batticaloa , Joseph Kingsley Swampillai , ordained him bishop on May 24 of that year ; Co- consecrators were Mario Zenari , Apostolic Nuncio in Sri Lanka , and Warnakulasurya Wadumestrige Devasritha Valence Mendis , Bishop of Chilaw .
On July 3, 2012, he was appointed Bishop of Batticaloa .
