The Bistum Batticaloa ( lat. : Dioecesis Batticaloaensis ) is in Sri Lanka preferred Roman Catholic diocese based in Batticaloa . It includes the districts of Batticaloa and Ampara in eastern Sri Lanka.

history

Pope Benedict XVI divides on July 3, 2012 the Diocese of Trincomalee-Batticaloa into the Diocese of Trincomalee and the Diocese of Batticaloa. The first local ordinary is Joseph Ponniah.
