Joseph Walsh (Archbishop)
Joseph Walsh (born December 24, 1888 in Newport , County Mayo , Ireland , † June 20, 1972 ) was an Irish clergyman and Archbishop of Tuam .
Life
On June 21, 1914, Joseph Walsh was ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of Tuam. He was founded by Pope Pius XI. on December 16, 1937 appointed titular bishop of Coela and auxiliary bishop in Tuam. He received his episcopal consecration on January 2, 1938, the Archbishop of Tuam Thomas Patrick Gilmartin ; Co- consecrators were Patrick Morrisroe , Bishop of Achonry , and James Naughton , Bishop of Killala . On January 16, 1940, Pope Pius XII appointed him . to the Archbishop of Tuam.
Joseph Walsh attended all four sessions of the Second Vatican Council . From his office as Archbishop of Tuam he resigned on January 31, 1969, Pope Paul VI. appointed him titular Archbishop of Tubernuca on the same day .
