Joseph Wenzel Peithner , since 1780 Edler von Lichtenfels , (born March 5, 1725 in Gottesgab , † November 27, 1807 in Prague ) was a Bohemian Gubernialbergrat , mine inspector and senior administrator.

Life

Joseph Wenzel Peithner was the son of the Gottesgaber mountain clerk and shift supervisor Johann Christian Peithner. His grandfather, the city judge Johann Christian Peithner, was a supporter of a mine in the neighboring Goldenhöhe . The family itself came from Tyrol and settled in Bohemia after the Thirty Years War . Peithner's brother was the mining scientist and founder of the first mining university of the Imperial and Royal Monarchy in Schemnitz, Johann Peithner .

Peithner supervised and promoted the technical cultivation of the mines for silver cultivation in the silver-cobalt tunnels. During the Seven Years' War he headed the defense of the 13 towns in his mining district from enemy destruction. In 1766 he held the office of the first mountain jury in St. Joachimsthal . In 1769 he was appointed Bergmeister von Katharinaberg and in 1774 he acted as chief administrator of St. Joachimsthal. In 1780, together with his brother Johann, he was awarded the noble title of Edler von Lichtenfels . Most recently Peithner held the title of an Imperial and Royal Mountain Council in Prague.

His son-in-law was the Imperial and Royal Gubernialrat in Pribram Aloys Mießl Edler vonzeileisen .

Joseph Wenzel Peithner married Barbara Carpano (* around 1746; † November 18, 1802 in Prague) on November 24, 1766 in St. Joachimsthal, daughter of the citizen and businessman Joseph Carpano.
