Josephine Pilars de Pilar

Josephine Marguerite Antonia Pilars de Pilar (born July 8, 1967 in Aurich ) is a German opera singer ( soprano ).

Life

Josephine Pilars de Pilar is the daughter of Josef Pilars de Pilar and the French Béatrice Lamotte d'Argy. She is also the great-granddaughter of Ladislaus and Antonia Pilars de Pilar and sister of the artist Carol Pilars de Pilar . She has been married to the photographer Siegward Schmitz since 2001 and lives in Wiehl .

She grew up first in Bonn and later in Cologne , where she graduated from high school at the Liebfrauenschule in Cologne . She began her musical training at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz . She then attended the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna . Josephine Pilars completed master classes a. a. with Anna Reynolds , Ernst Haefliger and Elisabeth Schwarzkopf . She deepened her artistic development with acting and improvisation courses.

repertoire

While still a student she got engagements for contemporary music as part of the Styrian Autumn Graz. Engagements at the Volkstheater Vienna followed. Repeated guest appearances are as Adele in Die Fledermaus by Johann Strauss ; the sorceress and Belinda in Dido and Aeneas etc. She sang in the Ligeti Requiem with the Bamberg Symphony Choir . Radio recordings for children's operas at SWR and numerous recitals take her through Germany, Poland, France and South Africa again and again.

Together with Monika Winterson, she realized the light concert "Poetry of the Forest" in the Bavarian Forest National Park . A nightly concert in the middle of the forest.

With the pianist Lena Ladyshenskaja, she designs collages from operas, operettas and musicals, humorous entertainment and quick role changes. Here she was particularly successful with the performance of Pergolesi's opera buffa La serva padrona .

Under the title “Divine Chants”, she and harpist Elena Janzen regularly present prayers from different cultures and centuries.

Josephine Pilars de Pilar realizes selected , entertaining operetta arias with the Ensemble Grisetten .
