Joti Stamatopoulos ( Greek Παναγιώτης Σταματόπουλος Panagiotis Stamatopoulos , born December 10, 1972 in Cologne ) is a German football coach.

Football career

Stamatopoulos began to learn soccer in a "soccer cage" and at the DJK Löwe in Cologne-Riehl as early as kindergarten age. In the early 1990s he played for the second team of the then second division club SC Fortuna Köln . After he worked for some Cologne amateur clubs, u. a. for Viktoria Köln and for the Spielvereinigung Porz, he ended his active football career at the age of 26 due to a knee injury.

Coaching career

In 2001, Stamatopoulos acquired the football instructor license at the Hennes Weisweiler Academy in Cologne. From 1999 to 2006 he worked as an assistant coach for the U21s of the Mittelrhein football association and as a DFB base coach in Cologne. From 2001 to 2003 he was a trainer for SC West Cologne and from 2003 to 2006 for SF Troisdorf . In 2003 he was Erich Rutemöller's assistant coach in charge of the German U18 national team . In 2006 Stamatopoulos moved to Greece to work as assistant coach at Panionios Athens under Ewald Lienen . On December 3, 2008, he followed Lienen in the role of head coach until the end of the season. Then he worked for a year as a scout for TSV 1860 Munich and FC Augsburg , in order to look after the Greek second division clubs Pontion Katerinis, Tyrnavos 2005 and AO Episkopi Rethymnou as well as the Estonian first division team JK Tammeka Tartu from 2010 . Then Stamatopoulos worked as an assistant coach at PAOK Thessaloniki . In June 2014, he signed with Fortuna Düsseldorf until June 30, 2015 . This contract expired in 2015 without renewal. His successor with the Fortunes was Peter Hermann . Joti Stamatopoulos has been Oliver Reck's assistant trainer at Kickers Offenbach since 2016 . From July 1, 2018, he will be assistant coach to Jürgen Luginger at FC 08 Homburg , who has been promoted to the Regionalliga Südwest .

Others

From December 2001 to mid-2006, Stamatopoulos appeared in the DSF football youth magazine Fujuma . At the side of Anthony Baffoe , he played the janitor Joti and explained football tricks . Stamatopoulos has German and Greek citizenship as well as the Abitur, which he obtained at the Hansa-Gymnasium in Cologne , is married and has a son and a daughter.
