Jouni Kinnunen

Jouni Kinnunen (born May 21, 1983 in Oulu ) is a former Finnish biathlete .

Jouni Kinnunen has been practicing biathlon since 1995. The athlete from Joensuu is trained by Esko Kinnunen and starts for Oulun Hiihtoseura . He has been a member of the Finnish national team since 2005. In 1999, Kinnunen became the Finnish junior champion in cross-country skiing . He made his international debut in biathlon as 37th in the individual at the Junior World Championships in Ridnaun in 2002 . At the Junior European Championships in Kontiolahti in the same year, a 15th place in the individual and a fifth place with the relay were the best results. In his native Lahti he was able to make his debut in the Biathlon World Cup as 93rd in the sprint . The following year he was in Kościelisko at the Junior World Championships in singles. In 2004 he started in Oberhof for the first time in biathlon world championships and in Östersund in military world championships.

In 2005 he achieved a result among the top 10 in the World Cup for the first time with the Finnish relay in Ruhpolding (with Paavo Puurunen , Vesa Hietalahti and Timo Antila ). Shortly before, he won in Beitostølen as a sprint 30. for the first time a World Cup point. In 2007 the Finn took part in a world championship for the fourth time in Antholz and finished 42nd in the pursuit, his best world championship placement to date.
