Juan Bruno Tarraza
Juan Bruno Tarraza (* 1912 in Caibarién ; † May 23, 2001 in Mexico City ) was a Cuban pianist and composer.
Tarraza first studied trumpet in his hometown, then piano. In the early 1940s he performed in Havana nightclubs and eventually directed the Orquesta Piedra . In 1942 he went to Mexico. As an accompanist for Toña la Negra , he toured Latin America and Spain. From the mid-1940s he worked as a film music composer in Mexico. His songs appeared in Mexican films until the 1960s, and he was also involved in some films as a pianist or orchestrator. His Bolero Soy feliz , interpreted by María Victoria , whose text Jaime Salvador took from the title of his film Estoy taaan enamorada , became popular. His songs could also be heard in the film La fiebre del deseo (1964), Jorge Mistral's debut as a director.
From 1952 to 1957 he also performed as a piano duo with Felo Bergaza . Both went on international tours and appeared in several films as a duo. They also showed their acting talent in Locura musical , Locos por la televisión and Flor de canela . In addition to Toña la Negra, Tongolele , Pedro Vargas and the Cuban queen of bolero Olga Guillot were among the partners in his long stage career. Tarraza also recorded several albums including Piano Tropical , Piano Sabor and My Fair Lady Goes Latin .
