Kanajormiut [ kanaˈjɔmːiutˢʰ ] (according to the old spelling Kanajormiut ) is a deserted Greenlandic settlement in the Nanortalik district in the municipality of Kujalleq .
location
Kanajormiut is located on the small island of the same name , which forms an extension of the peninsula between the Uunartup Kangerlua and the Sermilik . The nearest town is Alluitsup Paa , which is 20 km west-northwest.
history
Kanajormiut was settled before 1845. The population at that time belonged to the Moravian Brethren . From 1911 the residential area belonged to the municipality of Sydprøven.
In 1919 15 people lived in the village and lived in four houses. Among them were four hunters, a fisherman and a reader. The residents lived mainly from sealing seals.
Only two years later, the last residents left the place.
