Qallimiut [ ˈqaɬːimiutˢʰ ] ( Kitaamiusut Qallumiut ; according to the old spelling K'agdlimiut or K'agdlumiut ) is a Greenlandic shepherd settlement in the Nanortalik district in the Kujalleq municipality .

location

Qallimiut is located in a meadow at the end of the Qallimiut Imaat fjord , from which the Amitsuarsuk fjord separates, at the end of which is Qorlortorsuaq . The Qallimiut Kuuat drains the lake Qallimiut Tasersuat , which is fed by numerous other lakes via rivers, through Qallimiut. It is 10 km northeast to Qorlortorsuaq, 11 km northeast to Eqaluit and 13 km south to the next larger village Ammassivik .

Population development

Qallimiut still had over 20 residents in the 1980s. Today only half a dozen to a dozen people live in the settlement.
