Ippik [ ˈipːik ] (according to the old spelling Igpik ) is a deserted Greenlandic settlement in the Nanortalik district in the municipality of Kujalleq .
location
Ippik is located on the south coast of the peninsula of the same name , which forms the smaller northern part of the island of Uunartoq . The closest place is Ammassivik 10 km north.
history
Ippik was already inhabited before 1845. The place originally belonged to the Moravian Brethren . From 1911 the place was part of the municipality of Sydprøven.
In 1919 there were 33 residents who lived in six houses. Among them were four hunters, two fishermen and a catechist. Most of the inhabitants lived from fishing and hunted seals and foxes.
Ippik was probably abandoned in the 1950s and then only used as a shepherd's settlement for a few years.
