Narsarsuaq [ ˌnɑˈsːɑsːuɑq ] (according to the old spelling Narssarssuaĸ ) is a deserted Greenlandic shepherd settlement in the Nanortalik district in the municipality of Kujalleq .

location

Narsarsuaq lies on a plain on the west coast of the Uunartup Kangerlua . On the opposite side of the fjord is the abandoned shepherd's settlement Niaqornaarsuk . The nearest larger town is Ammassivik , which is 7.5 km northwest.

Population development

Only one person lived in Narsarsuaq until the mid-1980s. Subsequently, the population fluctuated between four and five people before Narsarsuaq was left in 1996.
