Juan Giménez
Juan Antonio Giménez López (born November 26, 1943 in Mendoza , Argentina ; † April 2, 2020 there ) was an Argentine cartoonist . He was known, among other things, from the series The Meta-Barone (together with Alejandro Jodorowsky ), which acts in the fictional universe of John Difool .
He drew his first comics at the age of 16. He later designed storyboards for commercials . In the late 1970s he moved to Spain and worked for French, Spanish and Italian magazines, among others. In 1979 he published his first color comic, Estrella Negra . Other albums followed, mainly from the science fiction field , with which he made a name for himself. He has been awarded several comic prizes.
Among other things, he worked on the film Heavy Metal . His studio was in Sitges , a place near Barcelona .
On April 2, 2020, Giménez died during the COVID-19 pandemic in Argentina at the age of 76 as a result of a SARS-CoV-2 infection.
