Player career

Juan Ramón Verón was best known for his playful and technical skills. In his home country, the attacking midfield player was nicknamed La Bruja, which means something like "The Witcher" . In 1968 he scored the decisive goal for the Estudiantes' World Cup victory over Manchester United.

After 1972 he played for two years in Greece with Panathinaikos Athens and one year in Colombia before returning to Estudiantes de La Plata in 1975.

Coaching

After he had finished his active career, Juan Ramón Verón took over a coaching position at the Guatemalan club Comunicaciones , before he was subsequently - and still today - adviser to his former team Estudiantes de La Plata. He passed his above-average talent on to his son Juan Sebastián Verón , who, like his father, became a national player for Argentina .
