Juan " Juancho " Pérez Marquez (born January 3, 1974 in Badajoz , Spain ) is a former Spanish handball player . The 2.05 m tall circle player received most of the play in defense.

Life

Juancho Pérez played from 1994 to 1996 for the Spanish club FC Barcelona , with whom he won the championship in 1996, the Copa ASOBAL in 1995 and 1996 , the European Cup Winners' Cup in 1995 and the EHF Champions League in 1996. He then joined BM Valladolid . However, there he won no titles. In 1998 he therefore moved to rival Ademar León , where he won the championship in 2001 and the Copa ASOBAL in 2000 and the European Cup Winners' Cup. In 2001 he was signed by SDC San Antonio . There he won the Copa del Rey de Balonmano and the EHF Champions League in 2001, the Spanish championship in 2002, the European Cup Winners' Cup in 2004 and the Spanish championship again in 2005. In 2009 he ended his career. After his active career, he became president of the Spanish second division club Badajoz Escubal, for which he was also active as a player from September 2011.

Juancho Pérez has made 204 international appearances for the Spanish national team . In 2005 he became world champion with Spain . At the 2006 European Championships in Switzerland, he won silver , just like before at the 1996 and 1998 European Championships . In the Euro 2000 and in the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta and 2000 in Sydney he won bronze . Later, Pérez was only third choice in the national team behind Rolando Uríos and Julen Aguinagalde .
