Cuatro Rayas BM Valladolid ( Club Balonmano Valladolid ) was a Spanish handball club from Valladolid .
history
In 1975 the predecessor club, "Asociación Cultural Deportiva Michelín", was founded. In 1986 the club was renamed BM Valladolid. Standing in the shadow of local rival Ademar León for a long time , the team made the breakthrough at the turn of the millennium, but lost the EHF Cup final in 1998/99 against SC Magdeburg and the final of the City Cup in 1999/00 against TV Großwallstadt . In 2003/04 and 2005/06 BM Valladolid was in the final of the European Cup Winners' Cup , but lost again, this time against Portland San Antonio and Medvedi Chekhov . In the 2006/07 season the team made its debut in the EHF Champions League . It eliminated VfL Gummersbach in the quarter-finals , but lost in the semifinals to SG Flensburg-Handewitt . In 2009 Valladolid won a European cup competition for the first time with the European Cup Winners' Cup. After 36 years of membership in the first division, Valladolid rose to the División de Honor Plata de Balonmano after the 2013/14 season . Due to 1,500,000 euros in debt, the association filed for bankruptcy in March. On June 12, 2014, the dissolution of the association was resolved at an extraordinary general meeting.
