Judas Christ is the seventh studio album of Metal - band Tiamat . It was published by Century Media in March 2002 .

Origin and style

On Judas Christ , the band continued the dark rock- oriented orientation of Skeleton Skeletron and also integrated influences from various rock subgenres in places. However, some pieces, such as Vote for Love, are kept very accessible and follow a simple stanza-chorus scheme. Sometimes unusual instruments such as the violin , sitar or didgeridoo were used. For the first time since their debut Sumerian Cry , the band did not record the album at Woodhouse Studios in Hagen , but with Lars Nissen at Puk, Medley & Sun Studios.

reception

The album reached number 28 in Germany and number 52 in Sweden. Wolf-Rüdiger Mühlmann wrote in Rock Hard magazine that the album was an “important step on the way to old form and new self-confidence.” He praised “small but compositionally dense and mood-wise very effective elements ”that enriched the dark rock sound. His rating was eight out of ten. Adam Bregman from the Allmusic.com website gave 1.5 out of five stars. Adam Bregman criticized the album title, the lyrics, which were about love and astrology , and the sound of the album, which was "over-produced".
