Juhan Simm (born July 31 . Jul / 12. August  1885 greg. In Kivilõppe, state farm Vana-Suitslepa, community Tarvastu , Viljandi County / Estonia ; † 20th December 1959 in Tartu ) was an Estonian composer.

Juhan Simm attended the village school in Suitslepa and the parish school in Tarvastu. He then studied from 1906 to 1910 at the Faculty of Physics and Mathematics of the University of Tartu . He discovered his passion for music early on. In 1908 he founded the Tartu men's choir . From 1912 he worked as a conductor of male choirs. From 1912 to 1914 Simm studied conducting at the Stern Conservatory in Berlin with Alexander von Fielitz and composition with Wilhelm Klatte and Julius Stern . In 1924 he perfected his conducting skills at the Grand Opéra in Paris .

From 1906 to 1910 Juhan Simm was employed at the Vanemuine Theater and Concert Hall in Tartu. From 1914 to 1916 he was musical director at the Vanemuine Theater, from 1916 to 1925 director of the local men's choir and from 1916 to 1940 conductor. In 1926/27 and from 1944 to 1951, Simm was a lecturer in conducting, music education and music theory at the Tartu Music School. He founded and directed numerous choirs in Estonia.

Juhan Simm was the director of the Estonian Song Festivals in 1923, 1933, 1938, 1947 and 1950. In 1947 he was awarded the title of “ People's Artist of the Estonian Soviet Socialist Republic ”.

Juhan Simm was also a music critic and composer of numerous works for orchestra and choral singing . In his work he remained committed to Estonian national romanticism.
