Career

Beckett began swimming when he was three to four years old and joined a swimming club when he was nine. She is currently training with Coach Ben Titley at Loughborough University .

Her first appearance in an international swimming competition was as part of the pre-run British 4 × 200 meter freestyle relay at the 2005 World Swimming Championships in Montreal . With the fifth fastest time, her team qualified for the finals, in which Melanie Marshall took her place and achieved fourth place.

A year later, at the Commonwealth Games in Melbourne in 2006 , she achieved her first major success by winning the silver medal as part of the 4 × 200 meter freestyle relay. In the same year she started in the run-up to the 4 × 100 meter freestyle relay at the 2006 European Swimming Championships in Budapest , where she finished seventh.

At the Swimming World Championships in Melbourne in 2007 , as in 2005, she did not go beyond participating in the 4 × 200 meter freestyle run. As in 2005, she finished fifth in the relay and thus secured qualification for the finals, which Francesca Halsall played instead of her and ultimately came in fifth.

2008 can be seen as her most successful year so far, as she won the bronze medal at the home short course world championships in Manchester together with the 4 × 100 meter freestyle relay in spring and, on the other hand, because she competed for the British Olympic team at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing qualified. Together with the 4 × 100 meter freestyle relay, she managed to qualify for the final with 8th place in the run-up, in which she was again not used.
