Julia du Plessis (born May 27, 1996 ) is a South African high jumper .
Athletic career
Julia du Plessis gained her first international experience at the Junior World Championships 2012 in Barcelona , where she finished twelfth with a height of 1.78 m in the final. In the following year she won the bronze medal at the Youth World Championships in Donetsk with 1.79 m, as well as at the Junior African Championships 2015 in Addis Ababa with 1.75 m. She then took part in the Africa Games in Brazzaville for the first time and won the bronze medal there with a height of 1.80 m behind Lissa Labiche from the Seychelles and the Nigerian Doreen Amata . In 2016 she reached eighth place at the African Championships in Durban with 1.73 m and in 2017 she was tenth at the Summer Universiade in Taipei with 1.80 m. The following year she reached sixth place at the African Championships in Asaba with a jump of 1.75 m. In 2019 she reached the final at the Student World Games in Naples , where she finished twelfth with 1.75 m. At the end of August she was seventh at the Africa Games in Rabat with a skipped 1.75 m.
From 2014 to 2019 , du Plessis was the South African high jump champion every year.
